Sexually transmitted diseases

Sexual diseases are a group of diseases that are transmitted between infected through sexual contact, and these diseases have many causes, including bacterial, viral and parasitic.

The rate of infection with these diseases, whether in developing countries or even in developed countries, is not accurate, as most cases are not recorded due to many reasons, the most important of which is the lack of medical advice to the patient because of modesty or the privacy of the disease, so there are no correct numbers showing the extent of the spread of these diseases, but According to the statistics of the World Health Organization, around the world there are about 4.. million new cases of gonorrhea every year. As for some developing countries, and because of the dependence of the diagnosis of the disease on the clinical condition of the patient, advanced laboratory diagnostic methods are not available.

In this group of diseases, especially gonorrhea, the poor use of antibiotics may lead to the emergence of types of bacteria that can resist the antibiotic, and the disease will escalate, leading to bad results and multiple complications. The chronic complications are narrowing of the urinary tract in men, pelvic infections and infertility in women. What is more dangerous is that the disease continues without symptoms. Statistics indicate that more than half of the women infected with gonorrhea or chlamydia bacteria do not show any symptoms of the disease, but they have the ability to transmit the disease to other healthy people.

Among the group of these diseases is syphilis, which is considered a rare disease, but if the disease is not diagnosed and treated, the patient may cause complications, the most dangerous of which is what affects the nervous and circulatory system. And the patient may become a carrier of the disease and infected with it for many and long years, but without symptoms, but he can transmit the infection to other people.

One of the risks of sexual diseases is that it may infect the fetus while it is in its mother’s womb through the transmission of the germ, especially the syphilis germ, from the infected mother to her fetus through the placenta, which causes the child to be infected with many diseases that lead to birth defects, whether obvious or hidden. In addition, gonorrhea and other venereal diseases may affect the child during birth, leading to infections of the membranes, especially in the eyes.

The herpes disease caused by the herpes virus is one of the venereal diseases that leads to ulcers in the genital tract and in the mouth as well. It is worth noting that this disease is a viral disease for which there is no effective chemotherapy. One of the most important properties of this virus is to stay dark in the peripheral nerve fibers for a long time. However, it may recover after a period of time and thus attack the body when the patient’s immunity is weakened for any reason.

There are also other types of diseases that fall under the category of venereal diseases, including those caused by some types of bacteria or fungi that lead to infections of the lower genital tract in women. But this group is considered a simple venereal disease that is easy to eradicate if the treatment is done quickly and then the periodic and continuous review of the doctor who makes sure that the body is completely free of these microbes, especially during pregnancy, as some microbes, as mentioned previously, can move to the child during birth.
Perhaps one of the most dangerous venereal diseases is AIDS, which is transmitted mainly through sexual contact and it is possible through direct contact with the patient’s blood, such as blood transfusions, drug abuse and organ transplantation. This disease spread in the beginning among people with homosexuality (God forbid), but now, after several years have passed since the discovery of the disease, it has been found to be prevalent among men and women as well. Despite the ongoing studies and research on this disease, there is still no effective treatment to eliminate the viruses that cause the disease, or a serum that helps to recover from this performance. Oh God, except that some drugs such as AZT have been discovered that help to thwart the growth of the virus, but do not help to kill it or get rid of it completely:

In order to prevent this disease and all the aforementioned venereal diseases, we must follow various means, including sexual education for people, whether at the level of education in schools or television, as well as in the daily newspapers, in order for the public to become aware of the seriousness of some of the wrong practices that lead to these diseases. It is necessary to focus on the category of adolescents and young adults, as the best way to reduce the spread of these diseases is to fully know what these diseases are, how they are transmitted and their complications. Therefore, sexual health education without embarrassment is considered a very important factor in prevention. Education curricula in schools must include educational curricula about sex in general and sexual diseases in particular, because statistics have proven that the main factor in the spread of these diseases is ignorance and then ignorance about them.

Also, preparing special symposiums on venereal diseases, in which specialists in this field are invited, helps educate citizens. It should also not neglect the role of continuous studies and research that help to identify the number of disease cases and the causes of their occurrence, which helps to limit them.
Finally, adhering to the pure religious values, teachings and good honorable ethics helps prevent infection with these diseases as well as helps to limit their spread.
